Finnish culture club for kids in Portland Oregon

Portland Finnish School, also known as Portlandin Suomi Koulu, is a community run culture and language club that meets every other Saturday for children with Finnish heritage of all generations.

From Toddler to Teen

Kids of all ages (0-18) are welcome to enroll. Classes are split into language learners and language speakers, as well as a play group for our youngest Finns.

Finnish Heritage

Children can be first generation immigrants, second generation, or more. All generations with any amount of Finnish heritage are welcome. Some members are children of former Finnish School children!

Parental Involvement

Parents and guardians are encouraged to participate. Share a cup of coffee and sing in Finnish with the kids. Volunteers help run school programs such as the library.

"Poikani oli Suomi-Koulun ensimmäisen vuoden oppilas (yli 40 vuotta sitten). Ihanaa, että lapsenlapseni voi osallistua nyt. Mukava seurata lasten ja vanhempien kokoontumista yhteen lauantaiaamuisin. Hauskaa on!"

"My son was a student in the first year of Suomi-Koulu (more than 40 years ago). It's wonderful that my grandchild can participate now. Nice to watch children and parents gather together on Saturday mornings. It's fun!”
